So you ordered your essential oils car diffuser. Great. Now, what are you going to do with it?
If you’ve been using essential oils for awhile, then you know, there are a ton of options. For just about anything, there’s an oil for it (a slogan many of us oilers like to use).
If you are new to the game, you might be overwhelmed. After all, there are more than a hundred different types of oils, along with dozens of blends offered by dozens of different companies.
In this blog we’ll highlight our 5 favorite blends to diffuse in your car.
First, just in case you don’t already have one, it’s important to know the different types of car diffusers.

Types of Essential Oil Car Diffusers
There are two main types of car diffusers. The most common type is a portable humidifier that plugs into your vehicle’s cigarette lighter. These handy accessories double as an air humidifier and aromatherapy diffuser.
All you have to do is add water, throw in a few drops of your favorite oils, and plug the diffuser into your cigarette lighter. Most of these diffusers have a rotating top, so you can plug it in at an angle while keeping your diffuser upright.
Note that with these diffusers, you will have to replace the filter every one to four weeks, depending on the frequency that you use it and the quantities of oil you use.
The second type of car diffuser is a smaller accessory that clips onto your vent. The diffuser has a small removable felt pad that absorbs the oil. No need to add water. Just sprinkle a couple drops of oil to the felt pad and clip it on.
Ever sprinkled some oil on a cotton ball and placed it in your vent at home to purify the air? This is the same concept.
The primary benefit of these types of diffusers is that they are more portable and easier to use. The drawback is that they don’t diffuse a scent as powerfully as the humidifier option.
Best Blends to Diffuse
Now, what to put in your car diffuser. Just like running oils through a traditional diffuser (or applying them topically), you have a number of options. It depends on what benefits you are looking to achieve.
And the benefits are numerous. Think about it. How much time do you spend in the car? If you commute to work, you could spend upwards of two hours every day in the car. If you’re a stay-at-home mom, you might be chauffering the kids from one activity to the next all throughout the week.
So without further adieu, below are our 5 favorite car diffuser blends.
